Legal Assistance & Resources

About 70% of women who come to Garden of Hope receive various legal assistance, such as court advocacy, attorney referral, and legal consultation. Garden of Hope works closely with Legal Aid Society, Queens Legal Services, Sanctuary for Families, New York Legal Assistance Group, Safe Horizon, Her Justice, Asian American Lawyers Association, Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund, Catholic Migration Services, CUNY Law School and other similar organizations.

Most of our clients  cannot afford the standard attorney’s fee, so these organizations help provide free legal consultation and representation to help victims find answers and solutions to their concerns. Attorneys from these organizations fight for the victims’ rights against violence and injustice

Garden of Hope also helps our clients by directing them to the right legal resources and providing referrals. Our counselors and court advocates go to courts throughout the city weekly to provide emotional support as well as language interpretation to help empower our clients during their lengthy and often stressful legal processes and trials.

In addition, Garden of Hope also invites lawyers to give monthly workshop to our clients in order to better inform and empower when navigating the US legal system.
